Figure It Out #39 - Time Lord Stuff

The dynamic duo of podcasting Shawn Atkins and Jared Catherine are back with a brand new episode of Figure It Out!

This week finds Jared in a bit of a pickle trying to figure out how to print comics on his home computer. It isn't going well for him.

Shawn's daughter has entered a new phase, the slapping phase. That's making life interesting for him and his family.

In good news, Jared completed his work on his mini-comic The Expressionless. That will be available for purchase at the Pittsburgh Zine Fair later this month. Shawn gives the comic a once-over for Jared and the guys discuss their philosophies on word balloons.

Next the guys discuss an important programming note. Starting next week, What the Talk and Figure It Out will begin airing on alternate weeks. Figure It Out will be back next Friday and then alternating Fridays after that. It's certainly possible that could change in a few weeks, but for now that's the schedule. Jared also announces he will begin work on a new installment of Walrus with Brian John Mitchell from Silber Media.


In related comic book news, both Jared and Shawn (along with the Duke from Comic Book Pitt) will be appearing at the New Dimension Comics Pittsburgh Comics & Collectibles Show October 25th at the Century III Mall in West Mifflin, PA.

Smack in the middle of the show the guys take the discussion from a plug for the upcoming Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo next March into an impromptu meeting on delegating social media responsibilities. Listen to how the sausage is made folks!

Jared discovers an article annoucing the upcoming release of an IDW Artist Edition for John Buscema's Silver Surfer. Shawn drops some Silver Surfer knowledge and the guys take a look at a special graphic novel created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby from 1978.

Jared can't get over how much the cover is a product of it's time but they're both enamored with the interior artwork.

Naturally, the guys also discuss this past week's episode of Doctor Who, Into the Dalek. Jared is already down with the new Doctor while Shawn is still warming up to the 12th Doctor.
